Litfuse Publicity Group was kind enough to provide me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The God Puzzle is a collection of 36 lessons that help focus your family on Christ and is designed for children ages 7-12. The book is fun and colorful with easy to follow directions that don’t require a lot of parent preparation or extracurricular work. The book is very user friendly and can easily be tackled at a pace appropriate for a specific child. Discussion questions are provided with every lesson to assist parents with facilitating open and interactive communication with their children as they work through the lessons. The focus of the lessons is on helping children understand how very blessed we are to have a relationship with God and provides knowledge about God, the Bible, and the Christian faith at a level appropriate for young children.
The lessons are designed in a manner similar to many adult bible studies. Each lesson has a collection of readings and is a fabulous method by which to get children comfortable with looking up verses in the bible. There is a section called “getting the facts” where the workbook guides children through the verses and helps with interpretation. Many of the lessons come with fun activities such as word puzzles, fill in the blank, or word search. At the end of each lesson there is a “read it” section with bible verses specific to the lesson topic, a “talk about it” section with guided discussion questions, and a “talk to God about it” section which provides children an opportunity to write down any thoughts or reflections on the lesson in a letter addressed to God. Resources about the different books in the bible and a quick reference for verses that can help when you are feeling discouraged, worried, confused, afraid, etc. are provided at the end of the book. A certificate of completion is also provided for children who complete all the lessons.
